French/Australian Alliance

Posted on July 14, 2013

During a surge of repetitive releases, the guys over at Sneaker Freaker have kept it fresh by putting their touch on a trainer that's just recently re-emerged back into the trainer scene, the Flash, a running model that was originally released back in 1990 and to our knowledge hasn't seen a re-release until now. We'd previously mentioned in our London Store Opening post that Le Coq Sportif has come back with a bang and we're sure a lot of people would agree with that as their on-going collaborative work is only raising awareness of the 130 year old French brand more and more on a global level and submerging itself into the minds of trainer connoisseurs and collectors alike, anyways let's [...] Read more

Three lions and a swoosh

Posted on July 8, 2013

It’s hard to believe how long football has officially been around for and this year marks the FA’s 150th anniversary and England’s first ever kit to be produced by Nike and to celebrate this occasion Nike have released two limited edition products, the England destroyer jacket and a pair of Air Max 1 iD's.   Finding any info on these prior to their release was a myth and getting our hands on them wasn’t easy either, well at least not the Air Max 1, as they sold out pretty quick and both were exclusive to the NSW cube in Nike Town London and Harrods in extremely limited numbers.   As soon as we found out that they dropped we were expecting a predominantly white [...] Read more

Parisian Crepes

Posted on July 7, 2013

Two weeks ago we flew out to Paris for a weekend of trainers, food, beer and more trainers and whilst we were there we also broke our Solemart virginity.   Before we arrived we weren't too sure what to expect in terms of variety and to be honest we were expecting to see loads of tables full of recent retro's and collaborations but we were completely wrong, sure there was the new release here and there but the old outweighed the new by a ton and there was also a good mix of clothing, toys and accessories on display as well.   Whilst some of the other events we've been to in the past have been very Nike heavy, we were refreshed to spot the likes of Brooks, Avia and Spalding throughout [...] Read more

Midnight Runner

Posted on June 28, 2013

After the success of their previous collaboration with Saucony back in March, the Hanon team have created yet another banger dubbed 'The Midnight Runner'. Utilising the same materials as the original release, this shadow master features a colourway more in-keeping with its moniker, with the black, grey and thunder blue upper, the trainer has a meaner aura to it and blends in with its dark habitat slightly better than its predecessor.   For those who may not have seen the first Shadow Masters, The materials are amazing, the plush suede and perforated leather upper mixed in with the addition of the satin lining just killed it, so we're glad to see that Hanon have kept to the same [...] Read more

Nothing Sweeter Than Macaroons

Posted on June 5, 2013

To celebrate the launch of their new collaboration with Le Coq Sportif, Footpatrol hosted an event for a select few to preview their ‘Macaron Edition’ Eclats, allowing people to get some hands on time with the trainers before they went on sale to the general public and as expected everyone loved them, including us. The rest of the evening consisted of tasty matching macarons and a lot of gin and tonic that had a few people wavey but all of that mixed in with a few goodie bags made for a great night.   Two days later we were invited back down to the store to shoot the launch and we were glad to see the size of the turnout when we got there in the morning. The first few people in the [...] Read more

Le Coq Sportif à Londres

Posted on June 5, 2013

Two weeks ago Le Coq Sportif hosted an in-store event to promote the launch of their new Concept store in Covent Garden, London, which we were kindly invited to attend.   After we were done taking pictures we indulged in the extremely tasty food that was downstairs, alongside some beer of course, and then had a good browse around the store checking out their current collection. Later on in the evening we found out that the French brand is 130 years old this year , making it one hell of an old company with a lot of history behind it and to celebrate this they unveiled a sculpture of bicycle tires made by the Wilson brothers representing the brands long term cycling heritage.   The store [...] Read more

Hunting For Tassie Devils

Posted on May 13, 2013

Way back at the beginning of the millennium a guy called Woody decided to put together the first issue of Sneaker Freaker Magazine. Things were very different back then, many of the well established sneaker boutiques we all love today were just starting to trade and the blogs we use to keep track of upcoming releases and drop dates were either non existent or had only just surfaced.   Ten years and 26 issues deep we find ourselves in the present day and Sneaker Freaker’s latest collab is revealed to the world; the New Balance 998 “Tassie Devils”. The name for this collaboration comes from the Tasmanian Devil, a marsupial that is suffering from an epidemic of cancerous facial tumours [...] Read more

After many a strong collaboration, collections and footwear capsule Adidas and Kazuki Kuraishi have teemed up yet again for Spring/Summer 2013 to present the Retrograde Resistance 84-Lab line.   With the recent retro of old adidas running models its great to see the Torsion Allegra being included in a capsule that has a outdoors utilitarian feel to it, the Allegra features a glossy patent leather that has strong dark colours that bleed through slightly as the shoe is worn in, a mixture of blue, green and red hues can bee seen throughout the photos it's these simply care and attention to details that Kazuki is renowned for mixing classic silhouettes with contemporary design elements. Stores Of Siam: Above The Rim Grand Opening

Posted on May 13, 2013

Thailand's leading sneaker store V.A.C have launched the new Basketball room at their Siam Square location in true style by collaborating with native artist Mamafaka. The celebrations were entangled with release drops from the Air Jordan 1 Retro OG in White/Varsity Red -Black and Black/Varsity Royal-Black to the limited t-shirt collaboration with Mamafaka who was on hand throughout the day signing shirts and doing sketches for anyone cheekily enough to put a canvas under his nose.   A great day of celebration for the ever growing sneaker scene in Bangkok, congrats to the lucky few who managed to win sign and framed collaboration tees and free pairs of Jordan's.       View [...] Read more

Code Name SI_577

Synonymous with football hooligans and drug dealers, Stone Island managed to get away from the stigma they have attracted in recent years and have produced a shoe that wouldn't go a miss as a staple piece accompanying any genre of style, mixed in against some high fashion garments, be seen on the feet of highland trekkers and could easily have be seen worn by the late Steve Jobs. Stone Island have managed to give an upper market feel to the silhouette thus enhancing its universal appeal, incorporating noteworthy details and materials with military-spec satin weave cotton, reflective polyester and a molded rubber N emblem.   Although being crafted in the Flimby plant down to trademark issues [...] Read more
